Water Mill is a hamlet in Southampton and the only hamlet on the South Fork with both a functioning watermill and windmill. The watermill, built to mill wheat into meal for residents of nearby Southampton in 1644, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Water Mill offers visitors several museums related to the history of the region and the original Native American inhabitants as well as the original mill.
